We joined Rotary to serve and we have to be Truthful to ourselves!
President Marion Muyobo
December 2024 marks the half way point for the Rotary International Calendar Year and also coincides with the month of Gifting. And giving we as a club have done, we have led D9213 leaderboard on TRF and profusely appreciate all those who headed the call by DG Anne to give using the 25x25 relay, and also those who have given in other formats including Polio Plus. We have had a few PHF recognitions in this period and Congratulate PHFs Rtn Suresh, Rtn Aaron, PHF+1 President Marion (waiting for my PHF+2 pin by the way). A number of members almost 10 have pledged to get us from 40,000$ to hit the 50,000$ Mark. Whether we end up at the top of the District leader board or not Just be satisfied that you have given for a great cause and you are humongously appreciated.
As club members most of us have given of ourselves in every way imaginable. The six months running from July to December have seen the club execute a number of activities most prominent are the ones with great reach and great impact such as the GG2343311 at Kyengera Women’s Hospital and GG2240464 in 7 Districts at 78 Health centers delivering items to enable the medical staff and the mothers have successful deliveries. Some of the items have included Baby Warmers, Oxygen Concentrators, Vein finders and many others. The medical staff were also trained on how to use these items.
Our tree planting drive has taken us to a number of locations around Uganda from Kampala, Entebbe, Kyengera, Jinja, Budaka, Kyenjojo, Gulu etc. Our Youth Directororate has ensured close collaboration with our Rotaract Clubs and ignited Lubiri as well as two new clubs in formation. The PR team has made sure that our socials are updated and the Passion Magazine is out in time, Family of Rotary has been consistent with updates on birthdays anniversaries and home hospitalities, as a club.
The second half of the year will be characterized with us participating in the TRF Dinner, and all Peace activities including the Peace Concert, Peace Walk all in January 2025.January is also Vocational Month and we do have some exceptional nominees to select from. Nile Run is scheduled for Saturday 22nd March 2025. Please do your best to bring on board as many runners and sponsors so that we can raise funds for our environmental campaign to plant trees especially around Lake Victoria and also enhance the waste trap system to reduce plastics entering the lake.
The 100th District Conference and Assembly will be from 9th April to 13th April. So far 28 have registered our target is 35. Even if you have not yet paid please do so even if you missed early bird you pay because the line up of events is going to be awesome, you cannot miss. You cannot miss being in those fotos when we are receiving our Awards and Handover of Office and installation of the 33rd President of the Rotary Club of Kampala Central will potentially be end of April 2025 during fellowship as usual.
Club Retreat will also be scheduled in May 2025 on a date to be confirmed by the Club Trainer. In June we shall all be off to Canada for the RI Conference and Assembly in Calgary. My appeal to all members is to participate in especially as many service projects as you can. So far to date we have seen an increase in the number of club members attending the tree plantings, the monitoring of our Maternal and Child Health Global Grants from Kyengera to the other other districts such as Budaka, Fortportal, Arua.More collaborations with clubs especially our Rotaract and other Rotaract clubs and the Nile Run will see the biggest collaboration of clubs from not just 9213 but also 9214 and 9212
We still have a few months to go till end of the Rotary year in June 2025 but still have quite a bit to accomplish but one thing we can say is that in the first six months we have run a good race to create Impact in the communities we serve as well as set a good governance foundation for the next leadership teams to lead the club.
We joined Rotary to serve and we have to be Truthful to ourselves and Fair to all concerned let us reflect on how we have served in the past six months and how we shall be serving communities going forward.
Have a Blessed New Year.
