On August 6, 2017 the Humboldt Rotary Club hosted their 17th Annual Rotary Fly In/Drive In Breakfast at the Humboldt Municipal Airport.  Gronbach's Grillers served scrambled eggs, pancakes and sausage to 840 people.  The Rotary Club members served the milk, orange juice and coffee as well as providing assistance with seating and clearing of tables.  Rotarian Dave Dodgen arranged for pilots to offer plane rides to 128 individuals.  The guests in attendance were able to view the landing and take off of 38 planes.  Several Model A cars were also on hand for viewing.  The Fort Dodge Life Flight Helicopter and crew joined us for breakfast and allowed guests to view first hand the inside of the helicopter.

Special guests this year was the Humboldt Rotary Interact Club.  Members from the Humboldt High School had a bake sale to raise money for their service projects.  The Humboldt Rotary Interact Club sponsor is Heather Nielsen.  It is awesome to have these young students learning about Service Above Self.

The Humboldt Rotary Club members would like to thank Dave and Deb Dodgen for organizing the event, Jim Gronbach and his crew for cooking the breakfast, Tom and Julie Olson for the egg donation, Hy-Vee for the syrup donation, the parks department for the delivery and use of the picnic tables, Joel Dodgen for taking charge of the plane rides, and the Humboldt Airport Commission for the use of the facility.  The proceeds from the fly in have been designated for the Kiddie Cat Daycare.

Thanks to all for attending this fun event.  The weather cooperated and a good time was had by all.  Hope to see everyone again next year!  Mark your calendar for the first Sunday in August, 2018.
