Sept 9 Breakfast Meeting

Marc recapped the Wednesday lunch meeting with the group reminding them of Anne Krieg’s request for assistance with manning the water station at the upcoming Half Marathon event on Saturday, Sept 18^th.  John Harding said he and his wife Jan will help out and get in touch with Anne.  Marc also reminded them of the upcoming Jessup Library Sale ($1.00 per bag) on this Sat, Sept 11^th, and a need for volunteers at 4pm to breakdown the event and move item into the basement.  Marc said he would help out with that effort.  Marc also reminded the group of the upcoming October 2^nd Adventure Golf Challenge event at Pirates Cove and encourage the group to form teams and or solicit the sponsoring of holes and to contact Annette or Benni for more info if needed.

The group then briefly discussed the Life Preserver Safety Event and mentioned it’s up to the Service Committee to present to the Board before moving forward.  Mike mentioned Robert Recholtz had spoke to the Coast Guard about the event and said the Coast Guard was very interested in supporting the event.

The Town Hill Ballfield project was discussed and concluded that perhaps the Service Committee could organize another effort to tidy up some of the unfinished items from the previous outing and re-visit the additional items that are under consideration for completion at the ballfield.  Mike mentioned Andy Kropff was interested in improving the grass in the field which needed to be done this fall.

Mike Gurtler mentioned a conversation he had with Steve Gable-Richards (Mr. GR) regarding a possible service project of building picnic tables for the junior high school.  Mike will get a little more information from Steve before presenting it to the Service Committee for consideration and funding.

The next meeting will be September 16th.   As always, it was a friendly and productive meeting and all club members and guests of members are encouraged to attend.
