Susan opened the meeting with a Pledge of Allegiance.
Attending this morning's discussion were: Marc Perry, Jane Adams, Robert Recholtz, Susan Ray, Scott MacCready (guest of Susan), Art Blank, Enoch Alpert and Mike Gurtler
Today's meeting consisted primarily of a continued recapping discussion of the Seafood Festival activities. Robert Recholtz discussed various price points vs. cost on items sold at the festival. Lowering the asking price of hamburgers was mentioned or the possibility of adding some fries or a bag of chips to the hamburger and keeping the price the same. Offering a "Lobster Only" dinner was discussed and considered, but no consensus was made on the matter.

Other "non-food" related items that were discussed were, the asking of those groups to whom our Club donates money to throughout the year to offer a couple of volunteers from their organization to help with our event. Enoch mentioned a more concerted effort to streamline the clean-up/recycling effort at the end of the day was needed, and more volunteers for this part of the day would certainly help that along. Being a "green" event, it had been mentioned at a previous breakfast meeting, that perhaps our Club suggest to the non-profit vendors participating in the event, to use biodegradable products whenever possible. Enoch agreed to come up with a list of biodegradable items and information on where to obtain these types of items which Mike Gurtler will convey to those groups who inquire about participating in the event next year. It was the consensus of the group that this would only be a suggestion and not a requirement to use these types of recyclable items.

Other items mentioned around the table were making an effort to obtain multiple sponsors or a few large sponsors for next year's event. Marc Perry mentioned perhaps the newly formed adhoc fundraising committee should organize this effort. The location(s) of the fencing around the event was discussed as concerns about limiting the entrances were brought up (via email). Mike argued that the fence is primarily designated to provide a backing for the vendors, which they all really like, and also to keep people out of our Rotary prep areas. The last item discussed was to consider increased signage for next year, specifically for condiments and for directing people to the proper tents for serving or dining. It was concluded that while signage was better this year than had been in the past, you can never have enough signs and people always seem to find their way.

Marc Perry then briefly recapped the Wednesday lunch meeting with the group noting Jane Adams' effort to send get well cards to those who wish one be sent and Judy Tardiff of the Ellsworth Noontime Rotary Club's "E-Waste Program" taking place at Home Depot on the 24th from 8am â€" 2pm. Also, Sharon (Malm) Linscott's presentation on the Straub Center, an adult day-care facility in Southwest Harbor.

The next meeting will be July 22nd. As always, it was a friendly and productive meeting and all club members, guests and visiting Rotarians are encouraged to attend.
