Adventure Golf Tournament
2015!

What a turnout! Bar Harbor/MDI's Putting Against Cancer - Adventure Golf was a rousing success with over $5,000 raised to help assist local cancer causes and patient services!

Many thanks to Pirates Cove for letting us use its awesome land of pirate lore and adventure with its beautiful new greens. Thanks to Hannafords of Bar Harbor for the most amazing cakes as well as the paper goods so that we could eat the most amazing cakes.

Thanks also to our in-kind sponsors, which included the Coffee Hound Coffee Bar for its hot coffee and cocoa.

And finally, many thanks to our generous hole sponsors, door prize providers and volunteers. The Rotary Mini Golf Committee is overjoyed by the generosity and fun-spirit of this community. Thank you for helping us to raise money against cancer and thank you all for making this an event to remember!

2003
In the spring of 2003 the club inaugurated an adventure golf tournament to raise funds for local cancer related causes.  The inaugural tournament was held at (and with the cooperation and assistance of the manager, Dan Herrick of) Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf to benefit club member Bob Noonan and his battle with cancer. Principal organizer, Rotarian Annette Higgins coordinated the tournament, billed as a golf tournament for non-golfers.  Dan Herrick set aside Pirate's cove for several hours in the morning, did not charge for the tournament players, and contributed 50% of the gross for the remainder of the day. Rotarian Mike Bonsey solicited local businesses and individuals to sponsor holes on one of the two courses at Pirate's Cove.  Individuals were also able to pay a registration fee and be integrated into a foursome. Rotarian Steve Powell made up hole sponsor signs for the course to recognize those who had supported this effort through the purchase of a hole sponsorship. Rotarian Sean Sweeney obtained prizes from various business members of the community and served as master of ceremonies during the tournament and afterwards at the awards ceremony -- ably assisted by his spouse Lily. Rotarian Ron Wrobel arranged for food which was served by many Rotarians throughout the day; particularly by Rotarian Bill Weir who brought his skills as a hot dogger from our annual Seafood Festival to cook hot dogs during the tournament. Rotarian Janet Hamel arranged for (and ultimately contributed) trophies for the winners. Rotarian Joe Losquadro prepared a marketing brochure and registration materials. The event raised more than $4,500 which was designated to be contributed to the medical costs of Rotarian Bob Noonan who is battling cancer.
