September 10, 2014

Attendees: John Piccone, Gurol Oncel, Sevtap Agabay, Lale Yurtseven, Dilek Zafar, Aydin Balkan

Guests: Orrin Mahoney (Asst. DG - Area 8, Cupertino RC), Julie Rinard (San Jose Jazz)

 

Meeting started at 7pm with pledge of allegiance and introduction of guests.

 

Julie Rinard picked up instruments collected by Lale. Every member is encouraged to ask their circles and look for instruments to donate. Once we collect sufficiently many instruments, we will have a second phase of donation.

 

District/Area 8 update from Orrin Mahoney

  • It is important to focus on projects relevant to the club’s culture to engage the potential members.
 

School supplies project:

  • Orrin will get us in touch with another small club to join forces for our project.
Other Projects and Action Items:
  • John will send info about foundation giving.
  • Monthly Social: Saturday Sep 27 at 10am Olympus Cafe Mountain View
  • Chili cook off. No progress for Sep 27. We postpone it to Saturday October 25.
    • Sevtap: Awards, Facebook, eventbrite
    • Dilek Z: Place, Cooks, ​
    • Aydin: Website, Ask for pictures or story for water project that we participated, also check eventbrite
  • Wine tasting social/fundraiser by Dilek Z.
    • ​​Time TBD
  • Multi-club fundraising event on Nov 13th, called "A-Sante", on behalf of Rotacare, at Del Monte Restaurant in Sunnyvale.
 

Lale will contact Sunnyvale Sunrise Club to organize a joint project, tentatively for Tanksgiving, for a project like food serving.

 

Gurol will contact the organizer of Turkish Movie Festival in San Francisco to obtain a Turkish movie to show in Blue Light Theater in Cupertino (owner is Cupertino Rotary Club member, Dilek Z got his info).
