Dan was born and raised in the small farming and ranching community of Crowell in North Central Texas.  He then pursued a BS in Animal Science at Texas A&M University.  After graduation, he continued his education at Oklahoma State University attaining a Master’s of Science in Equine Exercise Physiology and then pursued a PhD in Equine Nutrition.  While in school, Dan served as the Assistant Equine Extension Specialist for Oklahoma.

After OSU, he joined the National Reining Horse Association as the Director of Operations.  Dan managed the relocation of their International Headquarters from Ohio to Oklahoma City in 1998 and then was promoted to the position of Executive Director and served in that capacity for 17 years.

In March of 2013, Dan accepted the position of General Manager at the Historic Lazy E Ranch and Arena.  That fall the property was purchased by the McKinney Family of Texas and has undergone a tremendous revitalization.  Today ,it is one of the premier multipurpose facilities in the world.

Dan and his wife Kathy have lived in Edmond since 1998.  They currently have a daughter who attends Deer Creek High School and a son who is a recent enrollee at where else, The Oklahoma State University.
