Greg Beard - Manager, Mater in the Community

The inspirational story of the Sisters of Mercy is a story that many Rotary Club audiences have totally enjoyed. The Sisters’ story is one of courage, commitment and persistence in satisfying the unmet health care needs of Queenslanders. Theirs is an ethos that still serves Mater today. Mater is also keen to grow awareness around several new services. For example how Mothers and Babies research at Mater led to the opening of a Pregnancy Assessment Centre, open 24/7 and providing immediately a full range of specialists, equipment and treatment. As well as a Centre for Neurosciences, providing treatment and surgery previously not available in Queensland (and Northern New South Wales) or how Mater is responding to the needs to vulnerable and marginalised in our community. Mater in the Community would welcome the opportunity to be a part of one of your meetings.
