Our Club Induction night was held at the pool side of the New Africa Hotel  to install President Sujata Jaffer and her committee. The evening proved to be a great success. The event started at 7.30pm when guests were received by Rtns Hanif, Araf, Hugh, Israel, Anwar, Abdul and many other Rotarians. The function was attended by 170  Rotarians and guests.

Hamza and Alison welcomed all guests including our special guest for the evening Miss Earth Air, Miriam Odemba . Israel, Toast by Rtn Kobi and four way test by Rtn Araf. This was followed by President Said Shamo's  speech where he spoke about his year in office, projects carried out by the club and the work done by his committee. He expressed his belief that the incoming President and her comittee will do an even better job in office during this coming year. The office chain was then placed around the neck of President Sujata Jaffer.

President elect Sujata Jaffer then delivered her speech where she thanked her club for having the confidence in her and for electing the first woman president of the club. This in turn made history for a club which did not admit women till the year 2005. She then outlined projects which the club would continue to support and complete and introduced 4 new short term projects which the club will embark upon based on the donations received and to be received during the evening. The four new projects listed were,

 a) Provide one primary school with porridge daily for all pupils through Feed the Children.

 b)  Provide two salaries for two teachers for one year and resources for Tukolene Youth Project which provides education for young people with poor or vulnerable backgrounds.

 c)  Provide ten water bore holes for worthy organisations who struggle to access good clean water.

 d)  Provide resources for mobile HIV/AIDS testing of 1,000 persons through Nuru Centre Tanzania.

She also mentioned that Rotary club of Dar es salaam would be one of the first clubs in Tanzania to use a web based on-line club administration software called Clubrunner which will fully automate the running of the club. President Elect Sujata then installed her new office bearers. Lastly she thanked the donors who had contributed cash, auction, raffle items, wines for the table and the hotel for their excellent service.

MC Hamza at this point introduced the Salsa group (Salsa in Dar) who provided the lively entertainment for the evening. This was followed by auctioning of the various items. The total of cash and auction item donations was Tshs 16.960,000/-

The current Miss Earth Air has kindly agreed to be the Ambassador for all Rotary clubs in Dar es Salaam  for Environmental issues and together we will assist in helping her achieve her promise when taking office of planting 20,000 new tree saplings this year.

All guests were treated to a sumptuous dinner followed by dancing to  a  live band called "Mark". The evening ended at 12pm with all guests having enjoyed the evening.
