Weymouth Rotary President's Message 2026-2027
President’s Message Larry Cassese President’s Message One of the questions we are most often asked is, "Why did you join Rotary?" The natural follow-up is, “Why do you stay?”Those are deeply personal questions - not personal in the sense of being private, but personal because the answers reveal what motivates us, what inspires us, and what makes each of us who we are.Of course, there are the classic responses: "To do service," "To enjoy the fellowship," or perhaps the best answer of all, "To enjoy the fellowship while doing service." As I begin my year as President, my goal is simple: to support that mission, encourage it, and help maximize the opportunities for every member to experience it. For those who genuinely want to make a difference, Rotary is a powerful force. Through Rotary, we become part of an organization with the reach, experience, resources, and people to accomplish things together that would be nearly impossible as individuals. This year's Rotary International theme is "Create Lasting Impact." For the Weymouth Rotary Club, with more than 102 years of service to our community, that message feels especially fitting. In many ways, our mission is to continue creating lasting impact. We will remain committed to supporting organizations and initiatives that make a difference, including the Weymouth Food Pantry, Father Bill's & MainSpring, youth-focused programs such as the Weymouth Teen Center, Weymouth students and scholarships, the Makala Fund, and our longstanding international partnerships with Safe Passage, Creamos, and Planting Seeds.None of this would be possible without our members - past, present, and future.I believe Rotary, and Weymouth Rotary in particular, is at a moment of transformation. Whether driven by culture, demographics, technology, or changing community needs, we must embrace change while remaining grounded in the values and service that have defined our club for more than a century. During the 2026 - 2027 Rotary year, we will try some things we have never done before as we continue to grow and find new ways to serve. As Steve Jobs famously said:"The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do."Thank you for your commitment to Rotary, to service, and to each other. I look forward to what we will accomplish together.Service Above Self,Larry Cassese |
