The meeting began promptly at 12:05 PM with an invocation. Unfortunately, there was a brief technical issue with the microphone, but it was quickly resolved by Josh turning on the speakers.
The group then recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang "Edelweiss” led by Cara, setting a positive tone for the meeting.
Visitors & Guests: Kevin, who serves as a program chair, was introduced as a guest visitor from the Burkburnett Club. He is also a nuclear engineer! Quite impressive.
Birthdays: The meeting recognized several members' birthdays, including Cara, who turned 29, Tommy Richardson, Mike Saville and Jon Dearolf.
Additionally, Judy was acknowledged for her homemade bread gifts!
The Sunshine Report brought updates on members and their families. Highlights included:
- Cara Sauceda's husband experienced a successful recovery from his motorcycle accident.
- Steve Priester’s wife Norma underwent a knee replacement surgery.
- Judy & David Koetter celebrated her anniversary.
- Cara shared that she spent time with her nephew from South Korea.
- Will & Michelle Goodner celebrated his 18th anniversary.
- Brayden Wood provided updates on the 4 new facilities the Wood Behavioral Group opened. His son also acquired his learner’s permit!
- Tommy & Gale Richardson celebrated their 54th anniversary.
- We have an IOU for a wedding last Friday.
- Another IOU for the BBB Torch Award for Business Ethics.
John Mayfield took the floor to provide updates:
- Red Badge members received progress reports, including updates on programs and board meetings.
- The Grants Committee met this day as well.
- There was a challenge to increase contributions, coupled with a goal to reach $18,000 in contributions.
Program
The program for the day focused on the excitement surrounding the upcoming Year 1 of football, with a look ahead at what to expect from WFISD High School Football. Coaches and the Athletic Director were in attendance.
There are two upcoming ribbon-cutting ceremonies scheduled for August 14th at Memorial and August 22nd at Legacy. The anticipated population for each school is around 1,650 and 1,790 people, respectively.
Head coaches of each football team, Lawrence Johnson and Marc Bindel held (essentially) a press conference, with Grant Freeman, the Athletic Director, providing highlights of the year to come!
Conclusion
The meeting concluded with President John expressing gratitude towards the coaches and the Athletic Director. He also led the group in the Four-Way Test. The meeting adjourned at 12:50 PM with the ringing of the bell.
