President Cara Sauceda rang the bell and started the meeting at 12:06 pm. Dave Hartman led the invocation. Cara Sauceda led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance and Benay Ayers welcomed in Valentine month by having the club sing My Girl with the lyrics on the table, so singing was encouraged.
The guest today were Dee Ann Martin, wife of Noros, and Shellie Green Director of Outreach of Hospice of Wichita Falls. Shellie was a guest of Ryan Pitchford.
Noel filer lost her dad this week. Please keep Noel and the family in your prayers.
John Deason wanted to recognize the joy coming from the kids at the playground at Ben Franklin school.
Alan Donaldson mentioned that Deli Planet has a list of organizations on their Facebook page and the organization that receives the most likes will be recognized. Jeff Spoeri stated that the postponed MSU Championship Parade honoring the National Champion MSU Soccer team would be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026. Carla Sauceda and David Adams attended District Training and have returned with positive reviews of their training and ideas for projects for our Rotary Club.
We had two Red Badge Presentations: Brad Rodgers is sponsored by Alan Donaldson. Brad is a Digital Account Executive with Cumulus Media. Debbie Bigot is sponsored by Noros Martin. Debbie is the owner of Annie Jewel & Charlies, a clothing store. Debbie’s dad, A.D. Hanna was a member of this Rotary Club with 27 years of perfect attendance.
Alan Donaldson reminded us of a Membership Drive Social on February 19 at 5:30 pm at Taco Darlin located at 4214 Kell West Blvd.
Josh Phillips then introduced Cassandra Shinpaugh with Grayline Research Center for our program, “What is Clinical Research & Benefits of Participating?” Nobody in this Rotary Club was expecting to have Cassandra begin her presentation by having everyone take a test. Nine questions, and I can only speak for myself, but I didn’t pass. Cassandra spoke of what clinical trials are and who conducts them, who can be a part of the study and what information can be gleaned from the studies.
Grayline is an independently owned, woman owned, and nurse owned facility started in 1986. Each trial has between 60 and 150 participants and last between six and twelve months. Grayline applies for the job of participating in and conducting the trial. Everything is confidential in these trials. Grayline is currently recruiting participants for studies involving Anxiety and Alzheimer’s.
A donation will be made to the WFISD Foundation in honor of Cassandra Shinpaugh and Grayline Research.
