President Cara opened our last meeting of 2025 at 12:04. She announced, this was our long-time pianist Susan Cusenbary’s last performance. Susan was presented with a beautiful bouquet, as David Hartman stepped up and led us in prayer. Arnold Oliver led the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of “Jingle Bells”. After a number of guests were introduced, Noros Martin started the Brag Bucket routine by bragging on MSU’s first D-2 National Championship accomplished last weekend by the Men’s Soccer team. Lisa Stephens-Musick announced her retirement at the end of this week. Noros was also able to extract several other Brag Bucket donations.
Brycen Whittaker introduced Orlando Goodlow as our Youth of the Month. Orlando is a 12year old 7th grader at Rider Middle School. He is a member of the A-B Honor Role and performs numerous chores around the home. He participates in many activities at the Central Club and volunteers at his church. He has also attended Camp Graham Ball for several summers and he has been Youth of the Month several times previously.
Josh introduced Corey Edmundson, CEO of United Regional Health Care System, as our program. Corey hails from Amarillo and has 30years experience in health care. URHCS is an independent, non-profit, community hospital. It came in to being in 1997 with the merger of Bethania Hospital and Wichita General Hospital. It is a trauma level 2 facility. Daily expenses are approx. $1.3M. There are 2,400 employees and it generates an annual payroll of $230M.
URHCS is a big supporter of our community. They provide $30.M per year in charity care. Over 17,000 patients are served each year. They also provide over $800,000 per year in food and supplies assistance within the community. Their employees provide community support with volunteer efforts like Hotter “N Hell and working with the Boys and Girls Clubs. The Texas Hospital Association awarded URHCS the 2025 Excellence in Community Service Award. They are also recognized as a Top 2% hospital by the State of Texas.
After a brief Q & A session, we dismissed with The Four Way Test.
