T’was 12:04 when President Cara brought us to order. David Hartman`thoughtfully prayed for us and Cara led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and the first verse of Silent Night. We then greeted one another as we thought of the words of ROTARY!
There were no visitors or guests present today. David Hartman informed us that Noel Filer has broken her jaw in a recent fall. Let’s all keep her in our thoughts and prayers as she begins her healing process. Cara made a check presentation to Special Olympics Represented by Gretchen and Ryan. Our donation of $1500. Will help them continue their growth in our community.
President-Elect Greg Brownfield brought our attention to Slate of proposed officers and new Board members to be voted on in January. Our Rotary Exchange Student, Pauli, announced that her Dance Team at Legacy H.S. Is selling Texas Roadhouse Gift Certificates as a fund raiser and asked for our consideration in helping with this cause.
Cara introduced our program, Linda Green-Bennett and “When Love Overflows:Joy in the Journey”. Linda shared her life story and testimony with us. She was a teacher and her first husband was an Oklahoma Highway Patrolman who was killed in the line of duty by a meth dealer. They had three daughters and she continued raising them as a single parent. After his death, she worked with the Oklahoma Legislature in getting stronger laws passed that reduced the availability of meth and its use in the state. She then began lecturing as living testimony of what God can do in a life. He used her greatly. With the help of the North Texas Drug Task Force, she learned to work with youth. She eventually remarried. Her second husband was a Youth Pastor in Jacksboro. He was tragically killed in a car accident. She is living testimony of what God can do in life. He has used her greatly. God has provided for her thru her trials and tribulations. She is fully committed to the Lord and is always eager to share he love of Christ.
After a brief question and answer session, we dismissed with the Four Way Test at 12:55.
