After a good meal and great music, President Greg rang the bell at 12:02. Dave Hartman offered his usual invocation which related to our program. David Spencer then led us in the pledge and our singing along and a round of ROTARY. There were several guests accompanying our speaker including our past District 5790 governor as well as our governor elect/nominee. Clint Wood with the Burk Club, who is the governor's local area assistant, was also present. There were no items for the sunshine report. There were a few brags including Andy's announcement that he was back from a trip to Vegas to celebrate his 40th wedding anniversary. Brad Rogers had an unbrag announcing his position as the Ford House manager has not been finalized. Stay tuned for future updates. Then it was Noros turn to introduce our newest member. Welcome Ryan Serrill. Ryan has recentiy retired from the Air Force and already has a job lined up flying for Delta. Benay then recognized President Greg with a Paul Harris award along with his wife as a Paul Harris fellow. That was followed by spirited bidding contest for one of Carla's famous pecan pies which Rod Tieken walked away with.
David Adam introduced our program, Angie Cox Governor for District 5790. She was born in Lawton and grew up in Illinois before moving to Texas and graduating from University of North Texas. She has built a successful professional career and a commitment to service. She served on the Lewisville ISD school board for nine years and currently serves on the Denton County Appraisal Board. She has been a dedicated Rotarian for the last 28 years in the Lewisville Club. Her commitment to Rotary's mission of service above self continues to shape her leadership. Currently she also serves as a branch manager with Allegiance Title. She and her husband also own Cox Cleaning. | didn't ask if they would come to Wichita Falls. She said she lives her life by the 4-way test. Some of her goals for the year include getting our district membership to 3000 and supporting all the various Rotary youth programs. She hopes to also get RYLA participation up to 200 or more. Also mentioned were the Rotary Foundation work regarding clean water, peace, medical care, and disaster relief. Part of her vision includes growing membership, supporting RI, deployment of leadership, creating new clubs and supporting youth. There were also some handouts on the table for wheelchairs for mobility in Costa Rica, Clean Water in Kenya and a polio walk October 24. She finished up by saying Rotary can leave a legacy which can be a game changer.
