After some very nice diner music president Greg rang us to our feet at 12:07. Dave Hartman offered up a special prayer followed by David Spencer leading us in the pledge. He also led us in singing "O give me a home". There were no special guests or sunshine

Noros Martin suggested bringing dog and/cat food to next week's meeting to be donated to the animal shelter due to many animals being held there. Brycen Whiter encouraged everyone to come to the Kids Roundup 8/22 at the coliseum. There is no charge. Also, Brad Rodger's announced he has been picked by the new owners of the Ford House as the general manager. Also announced was the program for next week will be our annual district governor visit.

Alan Donaldson introduced our newest member, Becki Alfred. Welcome Becki. Alan (you too Noros) keep bringing in the new members. David Adam's introduced our program on WFISD upcoming football season. He gave us the background on Devon Dorris the athletic director for our school system. He has 28 years of experience in education and a long and successful history as a coach and leader. He spent 23 years in Azle ISD, 16 as head football coach with a winning record. This will be his first full year with WFISD. He is excited and looking forward to working with the coaches and students. His wife Keri, also an educator, is now serving in Region 9 and they have two grown sons. He was joined with the head coaches of our two high schools. Greg Davis is the head coach of Legacy and Ross Dillard is the head coach of Memorial. They each gave a few comments on expectations for this season and took several questions from the group. Both schools are classified as 5 A and will get in some major travel as most of their out-of-town games are in Abilene or Lubbock. Each one offered that they had a good number of kids trying out, about 160 or more for each team. Of course, with the hot weather they have been having challenges with practice days. They each have a scrimmage game this week and start official games next week. Don't look at the forecast but it may be very warm. Both coaches emphasized their goal besides winning games is to develop character and maturity. Their last game of the season will be an in- town matchup. Good luck to both teams and hopefully no serious injuries.
