The bell was gonged by President Arnold at 12:00 and the meeting spray into action. The ever bubbly Stacie Cook gave the Invocation and led us in the Pledge and Song, “America the Beautiful.” Our beloved Rotary greeting followed.
Visitors and guests in attendance were: Tamara Aguila and Justin Houston, both from Union Square and guests of Jeremy Woodward; and Dr. Thien Tran from United Regional, guest of John Mayfield.
Colton Heinrich introduced our recent birthday, who oddly enough was Stacie, who celebrated each year of her life on November 1st.
There was nothing reported for the Sunshine Report. James Hughes did share at his table that his dad, Jim is doing about the same as last week.
During the “Brag Bucket”, Bob Hampton was happy to share that is office manager, who recently had open-heart surgery, was doing excellent. Treston Teague was very proud of his son, who did well in the Rider Cross Country Regional event running a six-minute mile.
Shirley Craft reminded us to bring a Vet to our upcoming Veteran Recognition meeting.
Our Member Spotlight this week featured Will Goodner, the Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity. Will joined in 2019 and is the proud father of three outstanding children.
President Arnold then reminded us of the District Governor’s visit on November 17th. Is anyone interested in training to be a future District Governor?
Stacie then introduced Fouad Fakhouri, the Musical Director; Alisha Digess, the Executive Director; and Elizabeth Yeager, the Board President of the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Fakhouri was chosen from a field of 144 applicants to be the 8th Musical Director for our community symphony. Only a few cities of our size maintain a symphony orchestra. Started in 1948, this year is the Diamond Anniversary for the orchestra, which adds so much to the cultural quality of our community. Many outstanding guest artists have performed with our orchestra and the 75th year calendar contains six interesting programs. Sharon Isbin, a classical guitarist who would make Spanish classical guitar legend Andre Segovia proud, will be performing with WFSO on November 5th. The Symphony has three string instrument professionals to help with local high school students and provided the instruments for the Sound Garden in Lucy Park.
The Book Dedication for the program went to City View School.
