President Arnold Oliver rang the bell to kick off the meeting at 12:04pm followed by the invocation by Dave Hartman. Cara Sauceda led the Club in the pledge and song, Sweet Caroline. We had the pleasure of welcoming Deshaun Delgado and Sandy Fleming, who were guests of Andy Kocher and Chip Filer respectively. Deshaun is an Engineer at Howmet and Sandy is the Executive Director of Wichita Falls Streams and Valleys.
During the Sunshine Report Cara reported that her husband Dallas is back to normal and is doing well. Stacie Cook informed the club about her 14 year old son, Andrew, who had an appointment that afternoon to address his severe asthma issues.
Cara passed around the brag bucket where Noros Martin bragged on the recent increase in membership of the club and Jake Munholland bragged on yet another Chiefs Super Bowl Victory (with hopefully more to come). The member spotlight was brought to you by Marvin Groves.
Dave Hartman then introduced the program focused on the expansion of the United Regional Transition Clinic. The program was given by our own Noel Filer and good friend and colleague, Dr. Brian Hull.
Noel began the talk providing us the County Health Rankings, population statistics, and household income. She tied the statistics into the importance of the Transition Clinic to our community. Although the health is improving in our County, we rank very low and have a high poverty rate. Noel then discussed the history of the Transition Clinic from the original idea back in 2014 to seeing the first patient in 2016. The clinic was designed to aid patients following their discharge from the Hospital and assist them in the next steps necessary to the road of recovery. Dr. Brian Hull became the Medical Director in 2018. In 2022, the Transition Clinic served 3,700 patients with 8,000 completed appointments, which means they had outgrown the space of the original clinic. Noel ended with a virtual tour of the new updated clinic that will allow the Transition Clinic to grow and to continue to serve Wichita Falls.
Dr. Brian Hull ended the program giving a little background of his career and how end became the Medical Director of the clinic. He provided details of a few cases that he had managed recently to give examples of the great service the Transition Clinic provides to the community of Wichita Falls.
The meeting was brought to an end with the presentation of the speakers gift, a book that will be placed at Rider High School followed by the Four Way Test.
