President Stacie gonged us to order at 12:08. David Hartman delivered the invocation and Cara Sauceda led us in song (My Country ‘tis of Thee). We then greeted one another as some of us sang ROTARY under our breath. Our guests included Angel and Jack, two Boys and Girls Club Interns, guests of Cara, Allen Glenn, guest of Brady Woolsey, and Dr. Sheldon Wang’s nephew who just graduated from Arizona State.
Carla recognized birthday boys from November and December. Bob Hampton, November 30th and Walter Coppage, December 18th. In the Sunshine Report, we were told that Shirley Craft is back in the hospital and needs to be kept in our thoughts and prayers. Stacie informed us that her grandmother has recently had a stroke and has also battled COVID. Stacie also mentioned that she has sons with a broken hand and a broken face that seem somehow connected.
Brady Woolsey announced that they are seeking participants for a golf tournament that is scheduled for February 8-10, 2024 at Next Level Golf on Wayne St. The tournament will benefit the WFISD Foundation.
Alan Donaldson made mention of our Club’s push for new members and that future programs are now listed in the bulletin. Carol Murray then passed the brag bucket and was able to extract money from the pockets of Austin Green, Stacie Cook, and Benay Ayers.
Cara returned to the front to introduce today’s program which featured the Dexter Interact Club. Representing the club were President Marie Pajoga and Vice-President Damian Nickel. These two, as well as most of the students at Dexter are kids of Air Force or foreign military personnel at Sheppard.
They told us of a number of the Club’s projects. These included participating in our Rotary Club’s Food Bank drive, a boat race project that they did as part of a park clean up, a Halloween dress up week, Spirit Week and a Field Day Tye Dye event. They also participated in a Toy Drive-and wrapped the toys. An upcoming event planned is Humane Society field trip.
The club currently consists of sixteen members. They meet weekly at 3:00 p.m. on Thursdays. Cara encouraged our members to get involved. They would also appreciate any donations to their snack fund that can be brought to our meetings and given to Cara.
Our weekly donation will go directly to the Dexter Interact Club.
