President John rang the bell at 12:05 to bring us to order. David Hartman prayed for us and Cara Sauceda led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, and “Silent Night” before we greeted each other as mumbled ROTARY.
David Hartman introduced Sue Harrington as his guest. There were no birthdays recognized today nor was there anything for the Sunshine Report.
John again asked for Board Nominations for next year’s Rotary Board and for committee Preference Sheets to be filled out. Cara asked for volunteers to serve as judges for our Youth of the Month program. We were also reminded that we will not meet the next two weeks and that our next meeting will be Jan. 9, 2025.
John Mayfield introduced his choice for December’s Youth of the Month, Haylee. Haylee is a 7th grader at McNeil Middle School where she is an A-B student. She is very active at her school as well as at the Southwest Branch. She hopes to attend Texas Tech and become a Veterinarian.
Noros passed the Brag Bucket and then auctioned a pecan pie baked and donated by Carla Dowlen. Josh Phillips presented a check for 495.00 to Judy Koetter on behalf of Beacon Lighthouse. Again, our Flag Program work.
John introduced Sara Fidlar who is Director of MSU Lifelong Learning Center as our program. The Learning Center provides educational classes and social opportunities for seniors. It is for those 50 and older, with most of the 240 members between 70-90 years of age. The program began in 2018 under Dr. Suzanne Shipley, when she was President of MSU. Instructors include MSU faculty and staff and several Wichita Falls community members. The program offers approximately 50 courses per semesters.
After a brief question and answer session, we dismissed with the Four Way Test at 12:45.
