Some important reminders from Anne Slack
Remember, you can send cards to Mary Overly at 2101 S. Garfield Ave. Apt 138, Loveland, Colorado 80537-4000.
Only one person has evaluated the scholarship applications. The applications are at the library through next week. I am going to add Friday since so many who offered have apparently not gotten over there yet. The applications are with the librarian at the service desk in an accordion folder. Directions are inside. They should wear a mask and be award of physical distance. Curtis asked us to use the table over by the copy machine. If two people show up at once, they can split the applications and take a second seat somewhere else in the library and then switch applications between each other. When they are finished they may put their forms in an envelope, seal it and put their name on it. I put extra evaluation forms over there today in case some of the members of the Foundation wanted to volunteer. We really need that input so I hope folks will come. Library hours are Mon -Thurs 10 to 6 and Friday 10 to 2 PM. I'll be picking up the evaluations on Saturday, April 24. Please call me with questions.
Clean Up, Show Up!
Estes Park’s Community Clean Up Day will be held on Saturday April 24, 2021 to clean up the trash along our roadways, waterways, parks and parking lots downtown. Volunteers from various local groups, including Sunrise and Noon Rotary Clubs, Scouts, some church groups, and other interested individuals solicited through the Rec Department, will meet at the Visitor Center parking lot (on the east side) at 9:00 a.m. to pick up bags and an assigned area.
Please bring your own gloves and water, wear long pants and you probably will want to wear a mask.
Routes include Bond Park area, Post Office area, River Walk, around the Visitor’s Center, and parking lots downtown, among others, and are designed to take about an hour to an hour and a half.

Adopt a duck or flock to compete in Duck Race
You can almost hear them quacking their readiness to race. Thousands of little yellow rubber ducks are groomed and ready for their television debut on Saturday, May 1, when the race will be live-streamed on TDS Channel 8/108 - The Rocky Mountain Channel, YouTube and Facebook. But most important to the little ducks is getting adopted in time for their big swim at the Estes Valley Community Center.
More than 60 Participating Organizations are as excited for the Duck Race as the ducks. These school and community groups and nonprofits rely on the annual event to raise funds for their organizations, to help them feather their financial nests and carry out their philanthropic missions.
Larry Williams, Rotary Duck Race Festival organizations committee chairman, encourages residents, near and far, to adopt ducks and select an organization that will benefit from the purchase. For every duck adopted for $20 (plus and $2 handling fee), $19 will fly directly back to the organization chosen by the adopter.
“The Duck Race is very important to all of the Participating Organizations,” Williams stressed. “For some, it covers a major part of their budgets. For others, it’s merely a supplement to their budget, but still very important.”
Williams said that the Participating Organizations look forward to the annual fall opening of the application period for the Duck Race. To keep the organizations in the information loop, Williams sends out weekly Duck Adoption updates, which helps them track their success.
“The 65 Participating Organizations provide a lot of support to the community in so many ways. We are proud to sponsor the 33rd Rotary Duck Race to help these groups survive and thrive,” Williams said.
