Sorry we missed you last night…….. We don't want you to miss a beat so here is a recap of last night's events:

  • A blast from the past: Past  Rotary member, Stephen Norton surprised us by visiting the club . He shared a few memories, like meeting Harold's father in law who came to visit the club on his visit in the U.S. from South Africa. We all laughed together as Steve talked about meeting his  partner Kathy at a Rotary event 15 years ago.
  • Former member,  Dewitt Delawter also attended as a visitor. Dewitt recently met Ginny at an event and was immediately invited to attend a meeting.  He no longer travels for work and is able to rejoin the club again ! Great news, he is our first new member of the year!
  • Our assembly covered a variety of  topics . Among them were:
1) Discussion regarding the Hull Nantasket' s mailing for the Hull phone book The Hingham club's Aug 11th outreach for the Hingham phonebook and the club's intention to insert a cover letter explaining that there are two separate books.

2) Ideas of creating additional meeting options  that would provide  prospective members and existing members the opportunity to take part in club activities even if they cannot make a Thursday night meeting.

3) Peter discussed the modomed project and it's success and his desire to continue this effort.

4) Peter and Jon proposed working with "The Friendship Home" in Norwell and possibly funding the employment opportunities for some of the members of that program. They proposed the club fund an employer who would hire a member for a period of time thus affording the individual the exposure and opportunity to gain new skills.

Further discussion will take place regarding all ideas mentioned.

Please join us next week for Pizza and Bowling at South Shore County Club. If next Thursday is SPARE join us, it promises to be a STRIKING good time!!!
