These are going to be very abbreviated minutes because they keep disappearing. If I save them as draft when I leave the computer, everything I have written, except the attachments has disappeared when I try to go back to the minutes. So, I will just hit the highlights forget the formatting and not leave the writing so it can erase itself again. Sorry!

PROGRAM: Dick Hall first of all gave apologies of Mary Jane Stanchina, head of the Six District Compact that she could not be with us this year. Dick then introduced Albert DiTommaso, Principal of Woodridge High School where the Six District Compact unit on Biotechnology is housed. Mr. DiTommaso then introduced the teacher of the two-year program, James Gillahan.
The goal of the program is to work with high school juniors and seniors on the use of biotechnology products and processes to create solutions and benefit society. Prime targets of their work are healthcare, industry, agriculture and the environment. Examples of things that need their solutions are: laundry detergent, vaccines, oil spills, diesel fuel, genetically modified food and fermentation. The juniors and seniors who work in the program will receive college credit for their work if they pass the exam. Graduates of the program go into areas like pre-med, engineering, biomed and genetics. To learn more about the program look at the attached biomed catalogue. It is amazing what our students are doing.
Next week we will meet again at Bellacinos for our morning program at 7:30. Our last speakers of Career Tech month will be Terri Whitmer and Amanda Murray of the Computer Science Pathways unit of the Six District Compact which meets at Stow-Munroe Falls High School.
