After President, Gail Moseley opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, Dick Hall, Program Host, led us in a meaningful invocation.
Gail then welcomed our visitors, Gale Stawiery, Wendi Polman, Jill Sweitzer, David Sweitzer, Julie Karam, Anthony Karam, Georgeann Jones, Cheryl Morse, Carol Crimi, Mary Jane Stanchina and David Jones. She thanked Steve Dunton and Dave Renninger for welcoming everyone this morning.
Gail also shared a thank you note from LouAnn Redmon for the bench in memory of Bruce and all of the other attention she has received from the club.
CELEBRATIONS:
Rotary Anniversaries: Pat Messmore (20 years), Jim Laber (13) and Olivia Saltzmann (3) are all celebrating Rotary anniversaries this week.
Birthdays: Annette Oborn's birthday is Saturday and Maria Ferrara led us in singing to her.
Drawing: The 50/50 pot will continue to grow because the 9 of spades was pulled. There are less than 10 cards left.

Annette Oborn announced that her daughter, Allison Terlacher is again selling squares for chances to win money each quarter of the Super Bowl. Ray Evans shared that his son, Dr. Eric Evans has been named to the National Academy of Engineering. He is now the director of MIT Lincoln Laboratory and was cited for "the development of remote sensing systems, improved explosive device detection and ship antimissle defense."

Annette announced that the Coffee Collection for Haven of Rest should surpass our goal of 200 cans. You have one more week to get your coffee to the Oborns.
Carol Crimi of the Kent Rotary was with us this morning to see if anyone was interested in purchasing tickets to view the Kent State University, February 17, 6:00 televised basketball game against Eastern Michigan from a loge. You will see the game and have a meal catered by Tap Root in Kent. Cost is only $35 for adults, $25 for kids and those under 5 are free. Gail reminded us that Pizza Palooza is at the high school this Sunday from noon until 3:00 p.m. Rotary will have a booth there. If you want to help, text Gail at 330-907-4241.
A sign-up sheet for the Golf Outing Committee and those who wish to volunteer is by the sign-in desk. Be sure to say how you can help with this June 16 event that will be at Fox Den this year. Scott Miller is in charge.
Items being requested for Bulldog Bags this month are: individual cereal bowls, individual bags of goldfish crackers, small bottles of shampoo or cash for shampoo, 16 oz. jars of peanut butter and 18 oz. containers of grape jelly. Bring them to next week's meeting or drop them off at City Hall's lobby or the library by February 8.
PAUL HARRIS AWARD PRESENTATIONS: Chairperson, Dave Renninger, announced that 23 members of our club contributed just under $14,000 to The Rotary Foundation in 2022. WOW!
The recipients of awards, either becoming new Paul Harris fellows or moving to different levels are: Bill Choler (+7), Dave Renninger (+7), Bob Sweitzer (+6), Linda Trevorrow (+6), Tom Loepp (+4), Rich Bedell (+6) John Long (+3), Andrea Denton (+3), Bob Oborn (+3), Annette Oborn (+3), Annie Hanson Hilaire (+1). Wendy Polman, Julie Karam, and David Sweitzer were all recognized as new Paul Harris fellows. Ron Taggart will be recognized as special donor when he is back in town.
PROGRAM:
Program Host, Dick Hall welcomed and introduced, Mary Jane Stanchina, Executive Director of the Six District Educational Compact which serves, Cuyahoga Falls, Hudson, Kent Roosevelt, Stow-Munroe Falls, Tallmadge and Woodridge High Schools.
Ms. Stanchina said that when the Compact began 53 years ago, it was the first in Ohio. It was created when the governor said that every person should have access to vocational services. She also explained that in our next three weeks of Career Tech Month, we will hear about the Engineering Academy and Modern Manufacturing for Employment at Stow High School; Community Agriculture for Community Impact based at Cuyahoga Falls High School and finally the Culinary Program at Stow Munroe Falls High School. This next year there will be 28 programs under the Six District Compact, each meeting workforce needs in the community.
All of the teachers in the programs report within their local districts, but all of the districts both welcome students from the other five schools and also send people out. For the 2022-23 school year, Stow-Munroe Falls sends 198 students to other programs and hosts 59 students from other districts. Mary Jane says collaboration, cooperation and innovation is what they are all about. The programs are successful due to each of the 6 districts and the input from each of the systems.
Ms. Stanchina's role is to think about new partnerships and experiences that benefit the students, the school systems and the community. For instance there is a new partnership with the College of Engineering at the University of Akron where students who enter that school from the polymer division of the Engineering Academy will accrue credit hours from U of A for their high school work. For next year, analysis is in process for programs of the future such as optical, pharmacy technician and veterinarian tech as the Six District tries to meet the needs of both the students and the community.
