Rotary Foundation Month
The Rotary Foundation is recognized as one of the most effective and well-managed charitable organizations in the world, with 12 consecutive four-star ratings from Charity Navigator and an A-plus rating from CharityWatch. November is Rotary Foundation Month and through the end of the year we will be focusing on a Foundation drive.

WHY Donate?

In order for our Club to qualify for grants we HAVE to have a average donation of $35 per Rotarian for our Club. Our stretch goal has always been $100 per Rotarian. That would be $6000 this year. We were able to achieve that last year!! But bigger than us is all of the good our donations help to do in our country and world! Clean water projects, education and literacy, community economic development, disease prevention and treatment and so much more! Please help us achieve our goals!

Paul Harris Fellow:

As you donate to the Foundation, your donations accumulate towards earning a Paul Harris Fellow. Paul Harris is the founder of the Foundation and when you reach $1000 in total giving you are recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. For each $1000 given there after, you get a +1, +2, and so on. We are lucky enough to have a Paul Harris +9 in our Club!! Thank you Ron Taggert! Your dedication to the betterment of our country and world is amazing! Dick Hall has shared with each of our Rotarian's where they are in their Paul Harris journey's. Please see Dick if you have not received your paper.

HOW to Donate?

Bring a check to meeting made Payable to: Rotary Foundation and give it to Dick Hall or you can go to rotary.org/donate and make a one time donation or set yourself up for recurring payments. (my preferred method of donating smiley)

Soap Box Derby
Thank you to our speaker last week, Mark Gerberich, President and CEO of the International Soap Box Derby.  Prior to that he was with the pro bowlers tour for 18 years.

He explained that the goal of the Derby is to create leadership through competition; while at the same time giving back to the community.  For the first 75 years of the Derby, only registered racers were allowed down the track.  By contrast last year there were 80 event days at the track.  Along with races, they hosted concerts and even a Halloween Party for 10,000 attendees.  School teams now compete with their racers and there has even been Senior Day bringing out about 550 people.  There is also a Veterans' Appreciation Day.  To keep up with all of the activities at the Derby, go to www.soapboxderby.org. Or, contact Mark at mark@soapboxderby.org.
