President, Linda Trevorrow led us in the Pledge of Allegiance to open the meeting. Mary Dula followed with the invocation using St. Francis of Assisi's prayer.

Dave Renninger hopes to introduce us to the new director of the Stow-Munroe Falls Library next week.
Annette Oborn said that she mailed out the last Reverse Raffle ticket yesterday. Now is the time for people to send in the money and stubs for those tickets. We still need gift cards worth at least $20 which will be given as each 10th ticket is drawn.
Jenny Coleman is excited that her fifth grade daughter has decided to join the band by playing the flute.
Don Coughlin attended the Stow-Munroe Falls Band Show last weekend and was impressed by the great job they did.
Marty Tass reminded us that the Stow-Munroe Falls Community Foundation will hold their Beer Fest on Saturday, October 3 from 2:00-5:00 outside of the Heritage Barn. Six breweries will be represented with food by Bellacinos. Go to smfcommunity.org and click on the event tab and you should be able to purchase tickets there. Two people from our club are needed to pour beer.
Linda Trevorrow welcomed potential new members, Sue Figler and Michael Kostyack to the meeting this morning. There will be a meeting of a committee next week to determine how to complete their virtual induction...another new experience for the club.
Tonight there will be a Tri-District Virtual Membership meeting. You must be registered this morning to participate. Bob Oborn will be one of the presenters. Contact Linda at ltrevorrow@bti-cpas.com right away if you are interested.
Marissa Williams sent an e-mail earlier in the week about signing up to volunteer at the Foodbank on Wednesday, October 7 from 4:30-6:30. Only 7 volunteers will be accepted so if you sign up and seven are already there, state that you will be back-up. Go to https://doodle.com/poll/
Carrie Leising said that she will have a final report for the Teacher Supply Closet next week.

Sue Figler called attention to the scouting banner in front of City Hall and encouraged all of us to encourage young people in our lives to become involved in scouting. Normally recruiters are in the schools at this point, but not this year. Go to their website at gtcbsa.org and click on the Joining Scouting tab for more information.
PROGRAM:
Program host, Mary Dula, explained her Happiness Experience as she shared what she is doing to create happiness. She calls her sister, who has severe dementia, talks with her and tells her she loves her and prays with her, even though her sister may call her by the wrong name. Mary says we all need to reach out to someone who needs us.
Mary then introduced her great niece, Allison Terlacher, who is also the daughter of Annette and Bob Oborn. Allison graduated from the University of Akron and then earned her Master's Degree in Zoology from the University of Miami. She now is an educator at Stark Parks, a system of 10 parks with 100 miles of trails. She primarily works with the park's rehab hospital where 2000 animals are cared for each year. Allison shared photos of her adventures with ospreys, tortoises and pygmy elephants in her past employment situations and introduced her pet cockatoo, a native of Australia.
Allison said that we live in a super safe place as far as predators and an exciting place as we can watch animals get ready for winter. The fall migration is happening now as over 104 million birds will be flying across the United States. Track them on "Bird Cast" to see migration maps. Local animals either hibernate, migrate or stay out depending on how they can get food and stay warm. True hibernators build up a fat reserve now and then gradually both their temperature and heart rate slow down to get them through the winter. For we humans, Allison says that there is no bad weather, just bad clothing.
JOKE: Jim Laber was in charge of our joke this morning. He told us about a burglar who kept hearing "Jesus is watching you." That frightened the thief. If you weren't at the meeting this morning, check with Jim to see how the situation turned out. Next week Tina Gary will be in charge of our joke.
Linda dismissed us by encouraging us to go out and spread happiness this week.
