Teacher Supply Closet:  Carrie said that there is a need for volunteers to get some loose leaf paper into packages of 50.  They ordered it in bulk because it was way cheaper.  She is asking for people to go to the"closet" on the second floor of City Hall to count the sheets into groups of 50 and then put them in plastic sleeves.  If you would rather, you can get paper to take home and do the  packaging there.

Board Meeting: The minute of the October Board Meeting are attached to these minutes.

PROGRAM:
Jeff Film talked about happiness by saying that he is going on a hike with his wife and daughter this weekend to reconnect and relax, recognizing that in times of stress it is easy to forget or even ignore those closest to us.  He also said that he considers the dedication of Rotarians phenomenal in this community.

For today's program, Fire Chief Mark Stone, Mayor John Pribonic and Police Chief, Jeff Film explained Issue 23, which is on this year's ballot.  First and foremost, Jeff encouraged everyone to get out and vote.

For several years there has been consideration of a regional dispatch center with the safety of residents in our general area of the county being a top priority. The new center would include, Stow, Cuyahoga Falls, Munroe Falls, Tallmadge, and Mogadore.  There are already several ways that communities share in services that enhance multiple communities.  Metro SWAT, Dive Rescue, the 911 System, the dispatch CAD System, Metro Crash Team and the Citizens' Police Academy are examples of the ways various entities work cooperatively.

We have a good center already, according to Chief Film, but it can be better and more efficient.  We can share human resource, fiscal resources and technological resources which could result in greater efficiency in all of those levels.  We would move from having 2-3 dispatchers per shift to 8-12 in the new plan.  Since it is not unusual to receive multiple calls about the same issue, more staff could lead to efficiency for the residents.  Shared operating costs would be of benefit to everyone and the technology could lead to a seamless transfer among jurisdictions when necessary.

The new center would be located at the old Weaver School site at #91 and Howe Rd.  There will be dispatch rooms, a training facility and a radio room.  The various municipalities would share the cost so that this plan does not need a separate tax, according to Mayor Pribonic.

JOKE:  Rich Bedell told us about a man who went into a bar and was surprised with he went to the cigarette machine and later asked for peanuts.  Rich will share the joke with you.

Next week Dave Renninger is in charge of our joke.

Linda dismissed us by hoping we have a good week and by encouraging everyone to vote.
