There will be no in-person meeting on the morning of Oct. 9. because of the Reverse Raffle/Silent Auction that night. We will begin to meet at THE CENTER on October 16. Co-President Steve Dunton called the meeting to order by leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Annette Oborn, Program Host, followed with an invocation that reminded us of the presence of the Four-Way Test. Steve thanked Todd Hearty and his helper Aimee Budnik for checking us in and welcoming our visitor, Cheryl Warren who is our speaker for the morning. HAPPY BUCKS: Mary Dula shared that her oldest grandson has gone to Florida to help get rid of trees that have been downed by Hurricane Helene. He will then return to Asheville, N. C.where he will continue to help with the recovery efforts. Scott Miller, said that his company, Linde, Gas and Equipment, has set 16,000 cylinders of medical oxygen down to storm survivors. Aimee Budnik is happy to have completed her blue sheet. As a result, Steve presented her with her blue badge. Thanks, Aimee! Cheryl Warren presented the club with a $5 Happy Buck with appreciation for what everyone is doing in our club. CELEBRATIONS: Rotary Anniversaries: All of these members are celebrating their club anniversaries. The number of years is in parentheses behind their names. Bonnie Housley (37), Marty Tass, (28), Ray Evans (20), Christina Gary (12), Jenny Coleman (5). Wedding Anniversaries: Bob and Jill Sweitzer (40), Julie and Jeff McLain (37) and Scott and Diane Miller (29) will all celebrate anniversaries in the next few days. Birthdays: Maria Ferrara and Pilar Parsons have birthdays to celebrate. We sang really well to Pilar and wished that Maria was here too. Drawing: Annie Hanson had the winning ticket but drew the 9 of diamonds....one case where diamonds are not a girl's best friend. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Change in Meeting Location: This was our last meeting at Bellacinos since we need more space. So beginning on October 16 our morning meeting will be at The Center, in the former SYB Hall at 4157 Hudson Dr. Cost of breakfast will rise $1 to $15. There will be no meeting next week because the Reverse Raffle is that evening. Reverse Raffle/Silent Auction: Chairperson, Gail Moseley told us that there are only two tickets left for the event and thanked everyone who has donated gift cards and prizes as well as baskets. We have over 30 Silent Auction items and look forward to a great evening. Interact: Dick Hall reported that the students did a great job with their float which was part of the Homecoming parade last Friday. They also need about 4 drivers to deliver orders from the Teacher Supply Cupboard this week, since we will not be meeting next week. Help is Needed: Mayor Pribonic asked for our help this Saturday, Oct 5 from 10:00-1:00 when Interact and some of our club members will be helping a senior citizen at 2700 Sierra Vista with some outdoor work that was not completed during a past storm. The students need some supervision from adults, so please help if you can. Board Meeting: Our board will meet on Friday, October 11 at 7:15 a.m. at City Hall. The minutes of the September meeting are attached. District Club Experience Summit: Bob Oborn explained that this event will take place on Saturday, October 18 at Mentor High School from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Some of our members will be featured in explaining the club's membership program. People are welcome to gather at Collision Bend afterwards. Fifth Wednesday: Following our tradition, we will not have a morning meeting when there is a fifth Wednesday. That is true for October. So if you have an idea of what we might do for a social activity, text Chief Film at 330-352-4895. Foodbank: Mary Dula said that we will not be volunteering at Foodbank again until November 13. Then next date will be December 11. Salvation Army Bell-Ringing: Mary also reminded everyone that we will be ringing bells for the Salvation Army between Thanksgiving and Christmas. PROGRAM: Annette Oborn, Program Host, started us off with a couple of great jokes. Ask her to tell you the difference between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. It is a real groaner, but it is also a guarantee that you will want to tell someone else. She then introduced our speaker, Cheryl Warren who was our District Governor from 2015-2016. She is a Paul Harris Fellow and has become an expert on ClubRunner since she was asked to roll it out for District 6630. She then presented information to us about ClubRunner itself and offered some suggestions for our club and also help for the members. Cheryl suggested that we find a domain name for our club. ClubRunner can help us manage that contract and the cost to the club is only about $30.00 per year. Basically Clubrunner is software that powers clubs' websites and then syncs the information with the district. Each member has a log-in, but she cautioned that this log-in is not the same for Rotary International. She also suggested that since we do such a great job with Facebook that we link those posts to our site. She showed us how we can log-in and then update our own profile. After we log-in, we can see a directory of everyone in our club, track events and volunteer time if those are posted there. It is a very useful tool to use in contacting fellow Rotarians. She said it is also possible to set up billing through the site and manage most anything we want to manage for our club. Cheryl also talked about the importance of keeping the site fresh and using photos. She also suggested showcasing various members. It is even possible to have some advertising there, as another way to raise money for the club.She also suggested that we upload our information to others in the district. More updates and additions to Clubrunner will roll out by the end of the year. Be sure to check out the Clubrunner directions attached to these minutes to learn a bit about this useful tool and start roaming around the site to see how useful it can become. ______________________________ Steve closed the meeting by leading us in the Four-way Test and telling us to go out and make magic.
