INTRODUCTION OF SPEAKER: Nancy Rice. Magistrate Rita Rochford, Summit County Juvenile Court.

SPEAKER: Rita Rochford, Magistrate Summit County Juvenile Court. She has served as Law Director & Prosecutor for Stow in the past. She grew up in Silver Lake. Graduate of University of Akron and has much community involvement and activism. She works with Judge Linda Tucci Tedosio. Together they are implementing programs to help juveniles make better decisions. After research they indicated that if you separate the kids that are a danger to the community from the minor offenders, they are more likely to succeed in recovery. They are looking to reduce the detention population in general. They have implemented several programs to help these minors stay out of detention. These programs have been a success over the past few years. Last year Summit County only sent 6 minors to jail. Much less than in previous years. These programs are working. She then answered our questions. Contact Rita Rochford if you have any questions, want to volunteer, or observe email her at RRochford@cpcourt.summitoh.net.
