PROGRAM:
Brad Ruth, Program Host, coming to us from St. Augustine, Florida, told us that he spreads happiness by mentoring students through the Stow Schools Foundation.  They are beginning a formal mentoring program.

Brad then introduced Dan Russo who has been owner of Bellacinos since May of 2017. The Stow resident and graduate of Malone University volunteers in the culinary program at the high school.  The other presenter was Nadia Mullin who is a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School and the University of Akron.  Her background has been in education and as a business broker.

The program they both represent is EntrepreNewEd with the website https://entreprenewedu.com.  The purpose of the program is to bring together students, parents, the business community and community leaders as mentors in effort to make the most of each student's career tech efforts.  The students attend classes but then through mentors and speakers, have real work experiences.  They become eligible as juniors in high school and continue through their senior year.  They use those two years to create a business plan and or have actual work experiences in their field through their mentors.

Most of the 31 participants at this point are at Woodridge or Cuyahoga Falls High Schools, but through the Stow Community Foundation, the program is being expanded into Stow-Munroe Falls High School, since they are part of the Sixth District Compact featuring career tech education.

One of the difficulties of the program has been the restriction on in-person visits during much of the pandemic,  Hopefully that is going to change in the near future.

President Linda thanked both presenters for a very interesting program and expressed hope that many of our club might eventually become involved in the mentorships.

JOKE: Dave Renninger told a great joke about four fraternity brothers who missed an exam due to a flat tire.  Dave can explain how the professor got even with the students during a make-up exam.  Next week's joke will be presented by Jeff Film.

Linda adjourned the meeting by telling us to be kind to anyone who presents us with an April Fools Day joke tomorrow.
