After leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance this morning, President Gail Moseley asked Christine Faranda to offer the invocation.  Gail then thanked Steve Dunton and Wendy Waskovich for getting us checked in and welcomed our guests, Wendy Waskovich and Lori Ransom, our speaker.  

 

Rotary Anniversary:  It is Carrie Malotte's 15th year as a Rotarian.

 

Birthdays:  It is John Pribonic's birthday this week, so Maria Ferarra led us in singing very well to him.

  

Wedding Anniversary: Congratulations to Gail and Jack Moseley who are celebrating their 48th anniversary today.

 

Sympathy to Jeff and Jennifer Film and their family upon the death of Jennifer's mother.

 

Thoughts are with John and Cindy Pribonic as Cindy is hospitalized at Seidman Cancer Treatment Center.

 

Tom Loepp shared that his daughter, Nicole Kish will give him his first grandchild in August.

 

DRAWING:  Mary Parr's table had the winning number but Wendy drew the 3 of clubs so the pot will continue to grow with about 50 cards left.

 

Fifth Wednesday:  On March 29 we will not have our morning meeting but instead will have CPR training in the evening.  Sign-up as you sign in.

 

Easter Egg Hunt: This will take place on Saturday, April 1.  Look for more details but plan to offer some help that morning. 

 

Golf Outing:  The committee has begun to meet  about the gathering on June 16 at Fox Den.  They are starting to collect $25 gift cards to use as prizes.

 

Bulldog Bags:  Next Wednesday, March 8 is the time to deliver the following items to our meeting, to the lobby of City Hall or to the library:  Mac and cheese cups, Capri Sun, Band-Aids, Hand Sanitizer, 32 oz. box of pancake mix and 24 oz. bottles of pancake syrup.  

 

Christine Faranda introduced Lori Ransom of Geauga Mama Dogs and Pups.  Lori is recently retired from the U.S. Army and also has been a Workers' Compensation Attorney.  She now is a foster coordinator for the rescue organization.

 

Lori explained that the organization is a private, non-profit entity that is focused on the care and rescue of pregnant dogs, mama dogs and litters and puppies under six months of age.  There are about 200 people that foster animals for the organization.  They have a major partnership with Friendship in Elyria.  For every pup rescued,they incur about $40 in fees, as they get them ready to be adopted.  In 2019, they managed 982 puppies and by contrast 3500 came into their care last year.  

 

As the pups come under their umbrella, they need medical help and nutritional support and a lot of help with socialization with people and other animals.  Costs are $5000 to $6000 per month for the organization.  They have fundraisers and receive donations from the public and have an Amazon wish list where anyone can send donations directly to them.  When puppies are ready to be adopted, they can be found on their Facebook page, FriendshipAPL.  In that case, a picture is worth a thousand words.  For further information, go to their website:  Friendshipapl.org.
