Who is This Rotarian?  President Jim read information about a Rotarian who married his wife when he was 21 and she was only 17.  They had 6 children and 14 grandchildren.  He wired the early warning system.  The Rotarian is Tony Falcione.
Announcements:  The next Food Bank volunteer night will be February 4th.  Interact will also be there to help us.  The sign-up sheet was passed around for January 7th.
Let President Callahan know if you are willing to be the announcer for next week.
We will be back at Silver Lake for our meeting next week.
Mark Lucco announced that there will be a preliminary meeting for the Golf Outing, this Friday, January 16th at Bob Evans at 7:00 a.m.
Annie Hanson and John Pribonic have compiled a member survey for our club, so that we may have everyone’s input on the future direction of our organization.  It is important that everyone participate either on-line or with a paper copy.  Annie will send a link to the survey later today so that we can simply click on it to participate.  It will take about ½ hour to complete it, but we want feedback from every Rotarian.  The survey can be anonymous, but if you choose to identify yourself, you will receive a make-up.    The survey is due to be completed by February 15th.  Please participate! This is your chance to be heard.
John Pribonic announced that directions for e-make ups will be at the sergeant’s desk.
Speaker: Linda Trevorrow first led us in an OHIO cheer in honor of Ohio State’s victory.  She then introduced Kristen Riffey who is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine.  She is employed by the Akron General Wellness Center.  She trains both health people and those who have special needs.
Kristen talked with us about calories and energy and the effects of each on our health.  She believes that we need 5 or more days of aerobic activity each week and 2-3 days of strength training, or anaerobic activity each week.  She explained how calories are utilized in our bodies and how important different classifications of food and exercise are to our overall wellness.  Basically our bodies are meant to move and the more we move, the more we raise our metabolism and our overall health status.

Respectfully, Andy Denton
