Visitor: Linda asked our visitor, Milli Morrison, to introduce herself to the club.  She has been a Stow resident for 6 years and works for Faber-Castell.  She has been involved in working with the Women's Recovery Center in Cleveland and is interested in becoming more involved in Stow volunteer activities.

Board Meeting: Our next Board meeting will be Friday, February 12 at 7:15 am.  The minutes of last month's meeting are attached below.

PROGRAM:
Today is the beginning of Career Tech Month which will give us the opportunity to learn about a variety of career choices that people can utilize.  Dick Hall is the host for this month.  His Happiness Moment came from all of the people he was able to recognize last week with their Paul Harris awards.

Dick introduced Martin Helm, the Director of Training for Akron Area Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JACT).  He has 20 years experience in the electrical field and also is a 20-year veteran of the Ohio National Guard.

He shared information about the Akron Area Electrical JATC which is a registered electrical apprenticeship program.  This particular division includes Summit, Medina, Portage and Wayne counties, but they are all over the country.  Apprenticeships offer planned, supervised on the job training and related classroom instruction.  Apprentices earn wages as they learn and then have good paying jobs waiting for them at the end of their training, since there is a shortage of skilled workers in electrical positions.

Choices in an area of focus include both inside and outside work along with telecommunication.  College credits from Northwest State College can result in an associates degree.  People in the programs earn money while they are working and the only cost is about $1000 per year which includes books and materials.  To find out more information call 330-644-4286 or go to their website at OfficeEJATC.org to find an on-line application. They are also on Instagram and Facebook.

JOKE: Ask Bob Oborn to tell you about the string who went into a bar.

Mary Dula will be our jokster for next week.
