Co-President, Steve Dunton called the meeting to order by leading in The Pledge of Allegiance. Dick Hall then followed with an invocation from "The Book of Monbeck" about gratitude.
After Steve thanked Todd Hearty and Dave Renninger for checking us in and welcoming our visitors, Ted Karam, Brian Bachtel, Dennis Love and Jack Evans, Steve reintroduced Dick Hall to present our program.
PROGRAM: Dick Hall began his introduction by sharing a joke about 3 parrots. If you didn't hear it this morning, I am sure he will be glad to share it with you. He then introduced Brian Bachtel who is in charge of the Career Tech programs at Kent Roosevelt High School, as part of our Six District Compact. He expressed appreciation for all that Rotary does to support the Compact and the community.
He feels that the value of the career tech programming is the ability to determine what businesses need from the schools and what education can provide to businesses as far as potential, qualified employees. His main priority is in helping students reach their full potential. At Kent-Roosevelt, there are 11 programs of the Compact with over 600 students. They are from all six schools within the Compact. The Kent-Roosevelt program received a Ohio Facilities Grant for $2,300,000. to build a new facility for the engineering and advanced manufacturing components of the program. Their ribbon cutting will be on April 24. Mr. Bachtel described the tremendous support from the administration in this project and particularly recognized Principal, Dennis Love, for his support.
He then introduced Mr.Ted Karam, the Electronic Robotics Programming instructor. Under the realization that automation is both in the present but growing for the future, students learn the language of electronics and then look toward careers such as electrical engineering, avionics, bio-medical electronics, and manufacturing. As part of the program, students build computers and are eligible for apprenticeships and possible college credits. From that program, with or without further education, they can enter such careers as electrical engineering, avionics, bio-med electronics, electronics technology and manufacturing. Students learn to build computers and gain techniques which could enable them to be part of the chip manufacturing industry coming to Columbus. Students may leave the program with certifications and many go on to obtain associate or college degrees.

Wedding Anniversary: Gail and Jack Moseley will celebrate their fiftieth anniversary on Saturday.
Birthday: Gale Stawiery's birthday is today.
Blue Herons: Annie Hanson-Hilaire told us that the birds are back, as of yesterday.
Drawing: The presidents' table had the winning ticket but Jen Ramsey pulled the 7 of hearts so the pot will continue to grow.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Thank you: Steve read a thank-you from Kimpton Middle School for the donation of the six I-Pads. Four were donated by the club and Dave Christman and the Oborns each donated another.
Golf Committee: The committee planning or our June 13 event will begin Monday evening March 3 at 6:00 in the FOP Building behind The Church in Silver Lake. Scott Miller, chair of the event, says that if you want to be on the committee and or volunteer, be sure to sign up. He is counting on everyone's help.
Foodbank: Our next volunteer time at the Foodbank will be Wednesday, March 12 from 4:30-6:30. Please sign up as you sign in next week.
Community Showcase: Gail Moseley will have a sign-up for next week so we can sign up to take a shift at the Showcase. It will be on Saturday, March 15 from 10:00-4:00.
Club Assembly and Board Elections: March 26 will be the date of our next Club Assembly. At that time we will elect three new board members for terms that are expiring. If you wish to run for a position or nominate someone else, please give the name to Steve Dunton or Jeff Film.
President Steve closed the meeting by leading us in the Four-Way Test.
