President, Linda Trevorrow opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Dick Hall followed with an invocation of thankfulness that we can live lives of truth, love and understanding.
The first order of business was to elect our new board members whose terms begin July 1 of this year when Presidents Brad Ruth and John Pribonic take office.. Linda read the names of those who volunteered to serve: Mark Ferguson, Jeff Film, Pat Messmore and Gail Moseley. Since we could not have a paper ballot the members voted verbally to accept the slate. Linda congratulated and thanked the new board members.
HAPPY BUCKS:
Linda said that she was glad to see that Leslee Salhany signed on this morning from Siesta Keys, Florida.
Dick Hall said that former member Tom Bahr has agreed to serve on the Golf Outing Committee.
Brad Ruth said that he is happy to be at the halfway point of paying for his daughters' college tuition.
Mary Dula said she is happy not to cook on Mondays because of the Stow restaurant project.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Foodbank: We can have up to 7 people volunteer at the Foodbank next Wednesday, March 3 from 4:30-6:30. Please let Mary know that you can volunteer by calling her at 330-715-6358 or by e-mailing her at mattskstrnn@yahoo.com.
Golf Commitee: Dick said that the committee will meet tomorrow at 5:30 at City Hall.
Restaurant Food Delivery: Rotarian who have volunteered to deliver for Corner Cup Coffeehouse and StoNut Donut this Saturday morning, March 27, should meet in the StoNut parking lot by 8:45. Mayor Pribonic told us that last Monday the Speech and Debate Team and the band from Stow-Munroe Falls High School split over $1600 in tips.
Salvation Army Bell Ringing: Brad reported that we raised $2458 for them during our Saturday bell ringing outside of Hobby Lobby last December. Those who braved the cold and wet weather to ring will benefit many people.
PROGRAM:
For his Happiness Moment, Program Host and Chairperson of Career Tech Month, Dick Hall, said that his happiness this month is because of the cooperation he got from those who agreed to help with Career Tech month.
Dick then introduced Kevin Ott from Turner Construction. He is both an architectural engineer and a civil engineer and has been with the world-wide company for 21 years. Mr. Ott took us on a visual tour of building the new Crystal Clinic Orthopedic Center which will be on Embassy Parkway in Fairlawn. This tour was possible due to the use of Open Space, a 360 degree camera that mounts to hard hats. It takes a picture every 1.5 seconds that is coordinated with the appropriate architectural drawing. At the time the project is completed, the camera footage will be turned over to the Clinic as a documentation, learning and reference tool.
The new building is a $78,000,000 project which will house 60 private rooms, all with an exterior view, 12 surgical suites, and a very nice waiting area with a balcony and cafeteria for the convenience of visitors and even the community. They plan to see their first patient early in the fourth quarter of this year.
