After Co-President Brad Ruth opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, Program Host Linda Trevorrow led us in the invocation.

Brad thanked Steve Dunton and Gail Moseley for getting us checked in this morning.

Club Attendance is a concern since we have resumed in-person gatherings.  Please reach out to each other and let people know they are missed and also report any problems they are having to one of our co-presidents, John Pribonic and Brad Ruth.  It is recognized that this is a tough time with Delta variant concerns as well as changes in the breakfast.  Know that there has been a committee very actively involved in solving the breakfast issue and hopefully by next week there will be some resolution.

PROGRAM
Linda Trevorrow, Program Host, introduced Susan Crocker author of Housekeeper Wisdom.  Susan grew up in Alabama and attended the University of Alabama where she earned a degree in Studio Art.  She became a graphic artist.  Her variety of interests, which include drumming and boating with her husband Gil, have honored and reinforced her creativity.

After she moved to Ohio, life changes created a need for a career change, and she began cleaning houses.  Susan felt that this led to personal growth a her customers became part of her extended family as she shared stories with them.  She began keeping a log of what she learned from her customer and elsewhere and the pandemic gave her the freedom to allow her to self-publish her collection of valuable lessons that she collected over about nine years.  One lesson she gave us is that no one can gain from your experience if you don't share those experiences.

Susan read to us from a chapter in her book entitled, "Be Kind".  She talked about the importance of service and remembering to serve.  "Anyone who cares, makes you a priority'" is a quote from that chapter.  Referring to her business, she said that  her work is "not just about the cleaning, it is about the comraderie. "

Susan talked about driving, as she suggested to slow down and be more patient.  After she described a situation where someone darted in and out of traffic, she noticed the car had a bumper sticker that said "Practice random acts of kindness"  She suggested that drivers use their horns less and their smile more.

Susan commented that kindness should not be an attention-seeking act but should be done quietly or anonymously if possible.  We are all dealing with something but we can all lighten the load for someone else by our acts of kindness.

Her book is available on Amazon either as a paper book or an e-book.  Her website is housekeeperwisdom.com.

JOKE:  Bruce Redmon entertained us with jokes from "Auntie Acid's Guide to Life".  For instance...did you know that according to Auntie Acid; "Chocolate makes your clothes shrink"?

Brad adjourned the meeting by asking us to go out and do random acts of kindness this week.
