The Maple Splash Festival was a huge success on Sat., July 12th at the Burton Century Village. The Burton-Middlefield Rotary Club did an outstanding job running the raffle and the event. The weather was hot and sunny, and a gentle breeze kept blowing all day to keep everyone from becoming too overheated. There were over 40 local private and other non-profit businesses who set up booths at the festival as well.
Over 7,500 maple splash tickets were sold along with a 50/50 cash raffle that totaled almost $30,000! There were approx. 100 Chinese auction items as well as other incredible raffle prizes. I do not have the final revenue totals from Larry Fox, Maple Splash Chairman, but it looks like they might break another record!
The festival started at 2:00PM and lasted until 9:00PM. There were live bands and several food trucks and an ice cream truck too! Our club assisted with the "Kids Zone" by playing four different games with the kiddos. There was a huge velcro soccer target that seemed to attract most of the kid's attention. A big thanks and appreciation to Mike & Chelsea Talty and the Clover Electric Employees, Jim & Paula Zeitz, Derek Taylor and Geauga West Rotary Club First Lady Kate Wheeler for volunteering their time to play with the kids and hand out prizes all day!
