What a beautiful, sunny, hot day it was for the Geauga West Rotary Club's 34th annual golf outing which was held at St. Denis Golf Course in Chardon on Weds. July 30th. The outing always begins with a delicious catered brunch by Frank Arco of Rise-N-Dine in Chesterland. Rotary club Past President Ed Slane was the "Ultimate Grill Master" and provided grilled ballpark hot dogs, brats and Italian sausages for lunch to everyone on the turn! Then, after the golf scramble was over, everyone retreated to the air-conditioned party room for appetizers and drinks. Dinner was catered by St. Denis staff which consisted of pulled pork and BBQ chicken with garlic potatoes and vegetables.
There were three team tied for first place with a score of -11. The eventual winner (as calculated by going back to the lowest handicap hole) was the Chester Township Road Department team! Congratulations! (see pic below)
There was also a putting contest before the 12:00 shot gun scramble. 1st Place winner was Bob Voss and 2nd Place went to Bob Somrak. The winner advanced for a chance to sink a 50ft. putt for $10,000. So, close to going in!
