West Geauga High School teacher Cindy O'Janpa was our guest speaker at our Weds morning's meeting. She talked to us about the school's new public speaking program that was launched last semester. She informed us that the new pilot program was a success with about 6 students ranging from Freshman to Seniors who are mastering the skills and self-confidence necessary to improve their ability to speak in large public settings. Similar to the Toastmasters program the philosophy is to get the students to learn how to formulate their ideas and opinions in writing and then be able to articulate them effectively in front of an audience. While this task can present challenges, the lesson these students are learning will help them throughout their careers and life in general. Thank you, Cindy, for implementing this much needed class into the WGHS curriculum!
