PROGRAM:  Geauga Park District Nature Scopes Program.  Emily.  David Simko.

Started in 2003, Nature Scopes is a binocular based educational program that focuses on using binoculars as a fieldscope, telescope, and microscope to learn more about nature.  The year long program is available to 5th graders.  This year, 452 Nature Scopes students are participating from nine Geauga County schools.  Post program surveying shows that all of the students participating greatly improve their knowledge of nature due to this hands-on approach to learning.  A donation of $28 buys a pair of binoculars and two field guides for a student in the program that they get to keep upon completion of the Nature Scopes program.
