Veteran's Memorial Dedication

The Geauga County Veteran's Memorial was dedicated on Sunday, November 8, 2009. It was a gorgeous warm clear day and a big crowd was in attendance. Tracy Jemison, Dan McClelland and Paul Newman all took part in the dedication ceremony.

The project which was piloted by our own Paul Newman cost in the neighborhood of $400,000. The Burton-Middlefield Rotary with the support of Preston Superstore, Junction Auto Family, Chardon Eagles, provided $67,000 towards the memorial.

The last fundraiser, a truck raffle, headed up by Chuck White, Burrly Burr, Tom Blair and Jodie Swartwout raised $17,000. The truck was won by Chuck Deely from Chardon.
