Next week's meeting (8.15.12) is the BMR Family Picnic at Al Skinner's residence, located at 12260 Butternut Road, Newbury.

PROGRAM 8.1.12:  Ohio State Senator John Ecklund.

John is a first term Ohio State Senator representing District 18, which covers Lake, Geauga, and parts of Cuyahoga counties.  He is up for re-election this year.  John talked about a number of things that he has learned during his first term as a state senator.  He has learned that it is difficult to balance local needs back in his district with the needs of the state as a whole.  He also said that sometimes you have to compromise your principles for an issue that is needed.  For instance, he normally does not support government interfering with people's individual rights but he supports a ban on texting while driving because it is proven to save lives.  He said all and all, he has thouroughly enjoyed his first term and he is impressed with how well our state government runs.

PROGRAM 8.8.12:  Lake County Captains Game

A good time was had by all as the Captains beat the Great Lakes Loons 5-2.
