BEAMER 8.20.14

NEXT WEEK'S MEETING IS AT THE WELSHFIELD BANQUET CENTER.  THE PROGRAM IS CLUBRUNNER 101.

GUESTS:  Cindy Johnson, Vicki Blair, John Hurd, Nancy Chartrand, and Judy Davanzo (wife of District Governor Mike Davanzo)

HEADS & TAILS WINNER:  Congrats to Chuck White.

PROGRAM:  DISTRICT GOVERNOR MIKE DAVANZO

Mike, a member of the Medina morning club, started off his talk by thanking BMR for its active role in the district both individually (Bob Johnson is a PDG, Jim Eldridge heads up the district grant committee, and Tracy serves as the district treasurer) and as a club.  He also reminded the club of a few of the upcoming district events including a Rotary Foundation event on November 9th, the district conference April 24th - 25th, and a June 28th awards program.  Also, on October 23rd, all area Bob Evans restaurants will donate 15% of your bill to Polio Plus when you present a copy of the promotional flyer for the event at checkout (copies and email photos/phone screen shots of the flyer qualify).  This flyer can be found on BMR's Facebook page.

Mike noted a couple of the goals for RI worldwide which include growing membership from 1.2 to 1.3 million and growing the Rotary Foundation.  Mike urged those in attendance to move from being just a member of BMR to a true Rotarian by increasing participation in club events and truly getting involved.  He noted that the future of Rotary is in our hands so go out there, wear your Rotary pin with pride, and do it justice.
