NEXT MEETING AT PUNDERSON.

PROGRAM - Craig Deas.  Lake County Captains Director of Community and Media Relations.

Craig is the radio voice of the Captains.  The Captains are a Class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians and the 2010 Midwest League Champions.  Since 2003 they have called Classic Park in Eastlake home and will draw their 3,000,000th fan this coming season.  Prior to 2003, the organization that became the Captains called Columbus, Georgia home.  The Captains are owned by two Cleveland area families.

Craig talked about the different levels of minor league baseball within the Cleveland Indians organization - Mahoning Scrappers (short season A), Captains (A), Kinston (high A), Akron (AA), Columbus (AAA), and finally the Cleveland Indians - and how players move from one level to another within the system.  He commented that Captains players make between $800-1000 week, get a $20 per day food allowance, and get help with their housing.

Craig was happy to report that the Lake County Captains attendance is climbing despite the bad economic conditions and encouraged everybody to get up to Eastlake and see a game.
