Two Programs

We got a double Whammy at today’s meeting, duel programs. Joe Schon introduced Ron Hogan from the Loveland Rotary Club and Dr. Dick Schilling, D.D.S. These two founding members of Smiles Without Borders, which provide dentistry to underserved counties.  They are here to promote the program but also to talk with Joe and see if the connections he has made with school children in Kenya would open doors to their program of providing a sustainable dental program in Kenya.  In Mexico, they have provided equipment and management to allow new dentists from dental schools in Mexico to provide care in the school setting. They are hoping to do the same in Kenya. Our second program is Elizabeth Chentland, for the Nebraska Alzheimer’s Association. She is here to shed light on Dementia, specifically Alzheimer’s disease. She was effected by the disease at an early age, cared for a relative who was in advance stages, and went on to work for the Nebraska Alzheimer’s Association.  She shared the stories of those who live with the disease, and gave stats on what could happen in the future. June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, so she is pleased to share and encourages us to do so also.
