Husker Football Update

Our student guests this week are Jim Eastman and Austin Rhamy. Mr. Eastman is attending Gering High and plans to enroll at U.N.L and major in secondary education to teach German. Mr. Rhamy hopes to teach Social Studies at the high School level, beginning his education at W.N.C.C. Megan Hayward placed signup sheets for the Children’s Museum Truck. This traveling museum depends on local volunteers in order to allow children to visit, without them it will not open. President Karpf announced a tri-club picnic in Scottsbluff on June 15th. The Scottsbluff/Gering, Morrill, And Torrington clubs and their families will meet at Frank Park in Scottsbluff. He also announced a club assemble and picture day at the May 9th meeting- wear your purple shirts. Paul Hofmeister presented his annual Husker Football Team update. Mr. Hofmeister has been avidly following the team recruiting status and checking on all the players which have signed on. He began by mentioning the influence California has on sending players to the team. Kashan Johnson Jr. has been able to influence high school players to look at the U.N.L. program. For the most part the upcoming team has many excellent players committed. The quarterback position is in good shape as well as the safety, linebacker and defensive tackle positions. We are weak in the running back and tight end players. The change in coaching staff looks to be leading to changes in the defensive strategy. All in all, Mr. Hofmeister brought hope to the many Nebraska fans in the club.
