The phonebook campaign is charging full steam ahead, reaching 60% of last year's sales.  We have sales of $41,000 with another $29,000 to go to meet our goal.  Our real goal is to exceed our goal so keep plugging.

We are now past the date we set to wrap up sales, so please get busy and make those final calls.   If have finished your assigned calls, the committee has put together a great list of prospects.  Please consider taking a couple of names. Remember this is not necessarily a hard sell.  Many of these prospects are new businesses and would like to be included in the phone book.

Has anybody every asked you about becoming a member.  We now have an impressive brochure that describes everything you ever wanted to know about the East Greenwich Rotary Club.   President Bob, trying to prove he actually can do something of value, put the book together and got a grant from AMICA to have it printed.  Copies will be available at meetings and it will also be posted on our website.  Several members who read it during the meeting exclaimed "hey, I didn't know any of this, I think I'll stay a member".

He's perfect.  Chub Clement has been carving time out of his busy schedule for Rotary for 29 years.  Chub would often tell a customer, "hey, that clogged sink can wait a couple more hours", and head off to Rotary.  George Cooper, who presented Chub with his perfect attendance pin, said his memories of Chub went back to his childhood when the family was waiting for Chub to show up and unclog a sink.   As George handed Chub his pin he said, "hey, were you at Rotary that day we were waiting to wash the dishes."   It's a small world.

Are you a Pawsox fan?  If you are, mark August 18th on your calendar for Rotary night in Pawtucket.  Ed Neff is handling ticket sales.  Buy all you want for $5.00 each.  Our club will get to walk out onto the field with our club banner as the crowd cheers.  President Bob asks that no one run around the bases and would really appreciate no streaking.

Our random notes include a welcome to visitor Paula Hurd of the Warwick Club and visitor David Caldwell.  The Sloans celebrate an anniversary on the 21st.      Bob is hoping for a new Buick.

And..we enjoyed a visit from District Governor Terry Humfryes and his wife Mary.  We were their 3rd visit this week and they have 6 more next week.  The 534 District Governors around the world annual visit the 33,000 clubs in some 200 countries.  Governor Humfryes said his task is to coordinate club and district committees and reminded us to look to the district if we need assistance.  He told members to be flexible, work hard and give recognition.

Prior to the meeting Hymfreys and Assistant District Governor Jeanne Abate met with the full Board of Directors and reviewed our program of work and budget for the coming year.
