Highlights - Ms. Chauhan, formerly an English teacher, founded the organization 20 years ago. The mission is to generate confidence and compassion for young people through creative writing in supportive spaces. Creative writing imparts mental and physical health by releasing emotions. Some topics writers tackle are issues of race, gender, poverty, sex education, politics and family, The agenda has expanded to include community programs working with adults. The speaker distributed note pads and pens for everyone to write about an experience. Several members related anecdotes about their experiences.
