Lombardi Committee had first meeting – Mika handed out raffle tickets for everyone to sell. Lombardi dinner is March 16, 2017
Rotary Community Volunteer Recognition Awards dinner were 10/17 at La Bove Grand and the non-Rotarian member of the community recognized for embodying rotary’s motto of service above self. Karen Teu, Dustin and Marley Conover were honored. Mika and Barb attended on behalf of the club.
Clean Ocean Action Beach Sweeps are 9:00am on Saturday, October 22 in Pier Village. Sign up sheet.
Grant Management Webinars: 10/19 7pm Luciana, Judy and Jeremy all took it which should satisfy our minimum of 2 people per club taking it.
10/25, 28, 29, 30 Beauty and the Beach run for women benefits Aslan Youth Ministries and is in need of volunteers. Dan Herman is here today with us to speak a little bit about what Aslan does and about the race.
November 5th will be the Stop Hunger Now food packaging event at CVR. All volunteer slots have been filled. A donation of $29 will make 100 meals possible for children in orphanages. The donations will be given to orphanages that associated with a school. The county is running far behind the $5,825 needed to make the event happen. All donations count. 1/28 Asbury Park’s Polar Plunge – Would like if our club could send a team of volunteers to help them.
Mid-Year Assembly 1/30/17 and Vocational Service Awards and Pre-PETS the core points for the award are:
- Aspire to high ethical standards in their occupation
- Recognize the worthiness of all useful occupations
· Contribute their vocational talents to the problems and needs of society
Thank YOU so much to everyone that has contributed $26.50! Your response has been amazing and I am so proud! As District Governor David Forward is asking, each of Rotary’s 35,000 members are asked to give $26.50 to commemorate the first amount donated to the foundation a century ago. The proceeds of Project 2650 will go to Rotary Polio Plus. The club is asked to donate $536 and each member of our club is asked to contribute $26.50

Aslan provides relationship-driven programs that impact and empower at-risk youth.
Aslan Youth Ministries is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Red Bank, New Jersey. For the past 41 years, we have provided community outreach programs to impoverished areas in Monmouth County. In 1996, Aslan also established an outreach in Ouanaminthe, Haiti, along the northeastern border of Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
You may recognize the name Aslan as the central character in C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia series. We bring what Aslan, the lion, stands for – compassion, guidance and truth – to the children we serve in New Jersey and Haiti.
Aslan’s programs include one-on-one mentoring and tutoring, character development classes anchored in Christian values and principles, recreational activities, summer camps and cultural enrichment programs.
Through continual encouragement, Aslan helps children reach deeply within their hearts so they can learn to overcome the obstacles in their lives and, with God’s help, find the strength to endure and succeed.
