Don't let Mika do this all by himself.  Let's give him a hand, sign up for the Beach clean-up on 10/22.  Make him share the Bloody Marys' .

There is no speaker as today's meeting is a general assembly.
 
At the board meeting last week it was decided that the club would make a $1,000 scholarship donation to Madison Little.  There is a 50% match from the district bringing the total to $1,500.  Madison is currently doing post-graduate work at Oxford University to continue his work of serving underprivileged and underserved populations.
 
The club received a district grant of $1,500 to go to Rugby School.  The club matches the district so the total donation is $3,000.
 
Next night meeting is October 22nd 6pm at Dive Coastal Bar 1072 Ocean Avenue in Sea Bright right across the street from the Municipal Lot.  We will be in the side dining room and you are welcome to order off of the menu.
 
10/22 Clean Ocean Action Beach Sweeps 9:00am by Sirena in Pier Village.  Usually takes about two hours and then there is a "post clean-up meeting" at Rooney's for Bloody Mary's and to keep Neil company.
 
Beauty and the Beach Run is looking for volunteers for the following times. If you can help out please let Barb know.  We will pass around a sign-up sheet at the next meeting. An email was sent to Victoria at Shore Regional to see if the Interact Club wanted to get involved as well.

  • Course Set-up/tear-down, from 6 am -  noon, along the oceanfront
  • Course Management, from 8:30 am - 11 am, along the oceanfront
  • Water Stops (2) set-up/tear down, from 8 am - 11 am, along the oceanfront
 10/29 Karen Hansen Memorial Oktoberfest Fundraiser to provide a scholarship to a special education student at Bahr's in Highlands.  Contact Roger for more information.
 
On November 5th the club is participating in a food packing event for Stop Hunger now.  Gordon is the project coordinator and the time slot most in need of volunteers is 11:30am to 1:30pm. Register on-line here. It takes just 29 cents to send a nutritious meal to a child in need.  The district is about 40% of it's goal of $5,825.  Your donation of $29.00 will feed 100 people.  Donations can be made through the registration link.
 
12/8 Holiday Party!!  Mar Belo on Broadway in Long Branch, mark your calendars and bring your spouse and/or those near and dear for some holiday fellowship and fun.
 
Paul Peacock is going to donate a shelter box to the victims of Hurricane Matthew in Haiti.  If anyone else would like to donate, please let Paul know.
 
It's never too early to solicit Lombardi dinner sponsors and  ad journal opportunities.  A portion of the proceeds come back to the club so we can continue to do projects and make a difference.
 
We will be collecting macaroni and cheese and rice throughout the month of October for Holy Trinity Church.  Just bring your donation to the meeting.
